Invitations
Fitzpatrick Studios
The changes taking place in weddings have more to do with fashion and appearance than fundamentals. It’s the same way with invitations: Style is changing constantly, while substance seems to remain the same. The essentials still include certain items. You can add other items to them. And, of course, if you wish, you can add personal notes, photos or other inclusions. The Basic Invitation Set

The Invitation:It is normally enclosed in an inner envelope with the guests’ names. The names can be “Mr. and Mrs. Kramer,” if you want them to be formal, or just “Jim and Donna” if you prefer informality. After the names are handwritten, the inner envelope goes into the mailing envelope, which is addressed and stamped. These three—invitation, inner envelope and outer envelope—are sold as a set by invitation companies. If you are inviting all guests to the reception, a separate invitation to the reception is not used. The words “Reception Immediately Following,” are added at the bottom of the ceremony invitation, along with the location name and address. ResponseAlso in the mailing envelope goes the small response card, in its own pre-addressed return envelope with 1st class postage. The “response” is simply a small card that provides the “RSVP” for the guests. That’s the “basic package.” Your job is to choose the style you like and decide on the wording. There are literally thousands of styles from dozens of companies. You can certainly find the perfect set for your wedding day. If you want something special, you can have it created just for you. In the big invitation catalogs, you will find all types of invitations, including photo styles, various colors, flower patterns, modern, old style, etc. In the front of the catalogs are always wording guides. |
