Flowers
Marcia and Michael
Can you do a wedding without flowers? Simple answer: No, not really.
So, your only decision will be: What flowers to use with your colors, what styles of flowers, and who will you hire to do the flowers?
What Flowers To Use?
Several considerations go into this decision. If you’ve worked with flowers yourself, of course, you might know exactly what you want and how to make it work. But, most brides aren’t in that select and talented group.
You might have some ideas, a swatch or two of colors to match, and a general idea. The next step is to go see as many floral designers as you can, look at their portfolios and their work, get their advice, and decide which one will fulfill your desires.
It's easier said than done, of course. Most things are, aren’t they?
Before you go to a designer, have these things in mind to share with her:
- Is your wedding and reception indoors or outdoors, at a church or on the beach. Those very basic considerations make major differences.
- What is the style of your ceremony? It can be highly formal, on an evening, in a church. And, it can be quite formal if held in a Victorian rose garden at two in the afternoon. If it’s formal, do you want the flowers understated and intimate, or do you want them to overflow and be a huge part of the statement you are making with your wedding?
- Your reception, though it can take on a completely different character if you wish, will probably have to share the same floral theme. (Though, if you want to spend the money, you can create a completely new look!)
