Seasonal Changes: Visit the ceremony and reception location of your choice at the same time of day as your ceremony will be; take into account all seasonal sunlight and time changes; these will strongly affect the appearance of the site.

The City of Santa Maria requires a city permit for any party held in a public hall where any kind or amount of alcohol (even a champagne toast) is served; for information, call 925-0951.

Event Sites

APPLE FARM, 2015 Monterey St., San Luis Obispo, 93401; 544-0713. Ceremonies: This regionally famous restaurant offers numerous locations on the grounds for smaller wedding ceremonies. Gift shops, several dining rooms and many outdoor locations offer several possibilities also for rehearsal dinners or any gathering, such as a brunch the day after the ceremony.

AVILA BEACH GOLF RESORT, on the Golf Course, Avila Beach; (P.O. Box 2140, Avila Beach, CA 93424); 595-4000, ext 503 . Ceremonies: Outdoors overlooking Pacific Ocean, only available if reception is also held there. Receptions: Indoors (capacity 150 dining), or outdoors “under the bigtop,“ (cap to 1,000). Tent is fully lit and heated when necessary. Fees include 4 hours; extra charge for more time. Meal charges are additional, plus gratuity and tax. Full bar. Dance floor.

BEST WESTERN SHELTER COVE LODGE, 2651 Price St., Pismo Beach, 93449; 773-3511, 800-848-1434 . Ceremonies are held in the Wedding Garden, overlooking the Pacific. Seating is available for 75 guests. The Gazebo offers an oceanfront setting and seating for up to 25 guests.

CAMBRIA PINES LODGE, 2905 Burton Dr., Cambria, 93428; 927-4200 . A quality lodge with full services and a cozy, friendly atmosphere, nestled in the picturesque hills of Cambria. Ceremonies may be held in the Garden at the gazebo; additional fee. Receptions: Indoor and outdoor: The Peacock Room (capacity 250 with available dance floor) may be divided; full bar available. Outdoors, the Garden Lawn (cap 200) and covered bandstand allow room for music and dancing. Deposit required is fee for half-day rental of Peacock Room or Garden, plus fee for Gazebo rental if applicable. Catering costs are additional.

CAMP SAN LUIS OBISPO CHAPEL, on Camp San Luis Obispo, off SR1, about 5 miles north of town. (Mail: PO Box 4360, SLO, CA 93403). 541-6168, ask for Chapel Wedding Reservations . A country style chapel seating 300; surrounded by lawn area with shade trees. Dressing area for Bride. Street parking. Provide your own pastors, all services and cleanup. Small fee, no deposit required. No usage time limit. Sunday and weekday services okay.

CAMP SAN LUIS OBISPO OFFICER’S CLUB, on Camp SLO, off Pacific Coast Highway (SR1) about 5 miles north of San Luis Obispo; (PO Box 4360, SLO 93403); 541-6168 . Ceremonies and Receptions:Large, expansive ballroom with stage; carpeted entry room with fireplace and easy chairs, and wide covered porch. No-host, full-service bar. Commercial kitchen. Hall capacity 300 dining. Reservation/security deposit required. Large parking area. Security guards may be required.
