You Can Own and Publish Wedding & Party Magazine

Wedding and Party Magazine was first published in December, 1990 (cover date, 1991). It was one of the first high-quality regional publications offered on California's Central Coast. Since then, it has been published annually, every January. The magazine has never been published at a financial loss, and its unusual model (requiring only the publisher acting as writer/editor/designer, a pro-forma sales representative, and a web printer) allows it to earn a profit in small markets such as San Luis Obispo County. The magazine began as a 32-page black-and-white publication, plus color covers. It grew to a 106-page publication plus covers, full color throughout. The normal print run of 10,000 (in later years beautifully printed by American Web Press) was distributed free to Brides, Grooms and interested parties throughout San Luis Obispo County and northern Santa Barbara County. The magazine was founded in a decade when computer design and makeup was in its infancy; later on, when computers began to do the layout work for the designer, this magazine was joined by several others in the same market. Although this magazine retained the reputation and factual quality of being the "best of the bunch," the publisher, Bill Cory, decided in 2011 that after 21 years of publishing the wedding magazine, he was ready to pursue other avenues of publishing and serious writing.

The publisher, Bill Cory, has written a book detailing the production/publishing model he originated with this magazine. Titled, Maybe You Should Write A Magazine, it is available through Amazon.com, at this link.

Because the publisher wishes to pursue other interests, Wedding & Party will not publish an edition for 2012.

The magazine is currently for sale. For details, interested parties should contact the publisher, Bill Cory: email magads@mac.com.
